In the 1980s, INDEVCO pursued business opportunities outside Lebanon, where fighting continued throughout the decade.
In 1982, the group acquired five American manufacturing companies. In a leading country of paper and pulp manufacturing, the US firms represented an upstream investment, one which required oversight by a Paper & Containers Division within the group.
In Lebanon, meanwhile, INDEVCO leveraged Unipak's excellent reputation as a corrugated packaging supplier to agricultural enterprises. It established Masterpak and expanded by producing plastic greenhouse film covers and later plastic crates for the agri sector.

Household disposable brands produced by Sanita and managed by a Consumer Products Division became the undisputed leader in the market. Aided further by memorable environmental campaigns, the Sanita brand became a nationwide generic name for aluminium foil, cling film, and plastic trash bags.

Success in the consumer disposables market led to the founding of National Paper Company Ltd in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1984.
First-born company, GESPA, enlarges imports to include raw materials and industrial machinery, in addition to its export, trade and procurement functions.
